AshGold duo Appiah McCarthy and Amos Nkrumah recover from injury
Midfielders Appiah MacCarthy and Amos Kofi Nkrumah have both recovered from a knee injury and a boil respectively ahead of Ashanti Gold’s CAF Confederation Cup return leg match against Akonangui FC.
The two players reported to training after recovering from their various setbacks.
Coach Ricardo Da Rocha will now have enough options in his set-up ahead of the must-win game at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi next weekend.
McCarthy and Nkrumah were both absent when the team drew 1-1 away with Akonangui FC in Equatorial Guinea over the weekend.
Julius Ofori Ziggy who had a mild eye infection will undergo further assessment tomorrow according to the Club.
Meanwhile CAF have named Nigerien officials to handle AshGold’s match against Akonangui. Abdoulaye Rhisa Almustapha will be the centre man with Sadissou Idi and Salissou Bachir supporting on the lines as assistant 1 and 2 respectively. Moussa Ahamadou also from Niger will act as the fourth referee whiles Nigeria’s Sanusi Mohammed serves as the match commissioner.
A scoreless draw or a victory for Ashanti Gold will push them through to the next round of the competition.
