Three people were stabbed in a horrifying incident this evening near a McDonald’s.
A huge police cordon is in place on Bull Street where it meets Dale End in the town centre.
The attack happened around 6pm and officers told a reporter from the Birmingham Mail there has been “several casualties”.
Twitter users report that up to 100 youths were hanging around the scene before the incident.
According to a witness at the scene, it took around 10 minutes for police to arrive.
Another witness told Birmingham Live: “Just another example at the decay of this city.”
An officer said the incident involved a “fight between kids”.
The Midland Metro said in a statement: “Police Incident reported in lower Bull Street.
“This will not affect our service, but we ask those heading in that direction to take the necessary precaution.
“We will update you as soon as additional information is available.”
Roads closed include near the NCP car park, Dale End, Bull Street and officers have told the public the shutdown will last hours.
West Midlands Police said in a statement on Twitter: “Police were called just before 5.45pm on October 2 to reports of disorder on High Street in Birmingham city centre.
“Three people are believed to to have suffered stab injuries and are being taken to hospital.
“The extent of their injuries is not clear. A police cordon is in place around the High Street and Dale End area.
“Investigations are at a very early stage and CCTV is being examined.”
