CK Akonnor laments on Kotoko’s injury woes despite win over Hearts
Kotoko Coach CK Akonnor admits his side’s dip in form is as a results of the unavailability of some key players who have been hit with injuries.
The Reds have several injury situations in their camp but have been able to push to get themselves to the finals of the NC Special Cup tier 2 after beating Hearts of Oak on penalties.
Kotoko are currently without key trio Songne Yacouba, Richard Senanu and Maxwell Baakoh who are all battling series of injuries.
Despite the absence of these instrumental players, the Porcupine Warriors have been able to thrive to get to the top.
“Yes I think the injury in a way has been a problem, the injury to Baakoh, of cause Yacouba has also been on and off with injuries, Senanu who was instrumental and created the link between defense and attack which yesterday our captain did so well,” CK Akonnor told Happy FM.
“As we lost those players we have changed our tactical play and we are doing well in that sense, we are managing it but what is important is to win, so we don’t necessary look to entertain the crowd but we look forward to be successful at the end of the day.”
Kotoko, after the victory over Hearts of Oak will take on Karela United in the finals of the NC Special Cup.
They will however take on Ashanti Gold in the tier 1 semifinals on Wednesday.
