It has emerged that GH₵44 million worth of motorbikes and tricycles procured by the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) have been left to rot.

The about 5,000 tricycles, 800 motorbikes and 480 crush helmets imported to Ghana by Unik Savannah, a private company between June and August 2015 have been abandoned at the SADA warehouse since December 24, 2015 following internal wrangling between the Authority and staff of Unik Savannah.

Information

that, Unik Savannah was formed as a joint venture between SADA and a private

respectively.

The project was to facilitate poverty reduction through job creation and improve agriculture and rural transport systems.

However, poor management of the company coupled with deliberate attempts by some of the directors of the company to defraud SADA and others, resulted in the mess that had been created.

Adom FM’s Northern Regional correspondent, Illiasu Abdul Rauf, who visited the SADA office in Tamale, reported that the tyres of the machines had deflated and the metal portions rusted due to the exposure to the vagaries of the weather.
