Orphans at New Life Orphanage in Nungua say five of them sleep on a student mattress in the corridors of the Home because the orphanage does not have enough beds.
The 19-year-old orphanage was the one ravaged by fire in
November 2015, and only Bibles were left unburnt.
forced authorities to relocate the inmates to nearby Homes.
The orphans told Adom News Reporter Kojo Hagan that about 85 of them share two single rooms.
They also said the orphanage lacks funds to help them continue their education.
The orphans are,
therefore, appealing to the government, corporate Ghana and philanthropists to
come to their aid.
Founder of the orphanage, Nii Afotey Botwe said the
orphanage takes care of over 85 resident orphans, 180 non-resident persons with
disability and 10 resident aged persons.
He said the situation in the Home makes it difficult for
them to accept more vulnerable persons.
Mr Botwe also appealed for help to enable them provide better care and education to the orphans.
