Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association George Afriyie spent three days in Dormaa Ahenkro over the weekend mourning with his long-term friend and football confidant George Gyawu over the loss of his wife.

Gyawu, Operations Director of Ghana Premier League side Aduana Stars, laid his wife Florence Kumi, to rest and proceeded with the final funeral rites in Dormaa Ahenkro over the weekend.

Madam Kumi, popularly known as Abii, passed away in the Bono town after a short illness leaving many close to the family in mourning.

And, Afriyie who was far away in the United Arab Emirates on holidays when the sad incident happened, rushed to Dormaa on his arrival in the country to help wipe the tears of Gyawu and his family.

The CAF AFCON Organising Committee member was accompanied to the funeral ceremony by his close allies Abdul Salam Yakubu, Dickson Kyereh Duah – the NDC Parliamentary candidate for Berekum West, media practitioner and confidant Jeffery Asare  as well as Collins Atta Poku and writer El Akyereko.

After the burial ceremony on Saturday evening, the team paid a courtesy call on the overlord of the Dormaa Traditional Council Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II to express appreciation to him for his wise counsel during the 2019 Ghana FA President elections.

On Sunday morning the team was present at the Thanksgiving Church Service at the Dormaa Pentecost Church.
