GFA boss Kurt Okraku arrive in Egypt for Black Meteors AFCON semifinal game against Cote d’ Ivoire
Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku has arrived in Egypt to rally behind the Black Meteors ahead of Tuesday’s Africa U23 Cup of Nations semi-final encounter with Cote d’ Ivoire.
Okraku left Accra on Monday morning and has already touched down at the team’s base in Cairo.
His arrival serves as a big motivation for the team who are aiming to return to the Olympics for the first time in 15 years.
The Black Meteors would become the first African team to book a ticket at the Olympics with a victory over the Ivory Coast.
Ghana overcame a scare to seal passage into the last 4 after beating Mali 2-0 in the final Group match to advance on goal difference at the expense of Cameroon who lost to host Egypt.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko and his men will be hoping to make history this time around having missed the last three editions in Beijing, London and Rio.
The Black Meteors last made it to the Olympics in 2004 in Athens where they failed to progress pass the Groups.
