Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said the New Patriotic Party government is ready to improve education in Zongo communities.
Speaking at the inauguration of the newly constructed ultra-modern teaching block for the Islamic Secondary School in Ablekuma West Constituency, Dr. Bawumia noted that Zongo communities are critical stakeholders in Ghana’s commitment to comprehensive and inclusive development.
“The construction of this impressive educational complex and its ancillary facilities by the Zongo Development Fund in Tunga initiated by our ever energetic and hardworking Member of Parliament, Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, clearly underlines our commitment to not relent in our efforts to expand access to quality education, especially in the Zongo communities,” he said.
For her part, the deputy for the region of Pi. Owusu-Ekuful recounted the passionate call of the residents for a modern class during the 2016 elections and his determination to help develop the Tunga community despite the poor electoral pattern.
“One of the classrooms will be turned into an ICT laboratory under the guidance of the GIFEC agency under the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization,” he added.
He appealed to chiefs, Muslim leaders, teachers, students and opinion leaders to help maintain the facility.
